Chocolate Chews
1/2 cup shortening1 2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/3 cup milk
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate - melted
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and milk, stir well. Blend in melted chocolate. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Chill 2-3 hours. Form into 1" balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2-3" apart. Bake 15 minutes.
