Molasses Crinkles

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 cup granulated sugar

Mix together all ingredients except granulated sugar. Chill 4 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350F. Shape in balls the size of walnuts and dip one side in granulated sugar. Place sugared side up on ungreased cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart. Bake 15 minutes.

Would make this again.
This cookie is very good - I also tried dipping half the cookie into melted white chocolate candy wafers and then lay on cooling rack to dry! Very good and different!

Would make this again.
Mine burned in 15 minutes, 10 was better. The smell alone is intoxicating. :) If you like Archway's Molasses cookies or ginger snaps you'll love these. A great spice cookie.

Would make this again.
This is a great cookie and doesn't take a lot of time. Try dipping in Green and Red granulated sugar to give it that Christmas color.
